Lion’s Head

2008/11/24
The table mountain is the mountain, everybody over the world recognizes with Cape Town and that’s one of the parts Cape Town is famous for. For us, living in Seapoint, going to school at Interlink, however, the Lion’s head had much more importance. Not only was it the first marker of nature I saw when I arrived at Ingrids apartment and also the first I saw when I woke in the morning. Each time we went to school we needed to start climbing Lion’s head. It was the first mountain where we were to see the sunset and were we hiking up and down once at day and next time at night. The big advantage Lion’s Head has are that there are few tourists and, of course, you can see the Table Mountain ;-)
With less than seven days left it was time again to visit Lion’s Head. We planned to see the sunset once more from the top. This time we started directly from the bottom and went up the whole way. Not to mention that we also went the whole way down in the dark. We, that were Daniela, Michael, Israel and me. For our convenience we had some red wine with to celebrate.
West Coast

2008/11/23
It’s time for another big trip. Today we (Michael, Song and I) rented a car and went along the West Coast. We followed the N7 north up to Malmesbury. We passed the dinosaur traces and went further westwards. Near to Langebaan we stopped for lunch … fish and ships. Near to Saldanha we saw a judge coal refinery and went further via Vredenburg to St. Helena Bay. In between we stopped at Paternosta (which actually is a small fishing village not an elevator). Paternosta was advertised as tourist interesting because of the
coloured buildings and the fresh fish. Originally we hoped to come up to Elands Bay which would have been the most interesting spot … according to the travel guide. But this was just not possible for a one-day trip. So we returned and left the famous harbour of Elands Bay for next time.
