Cape Town

After two more days of school, my first weekend approached. On Friday evening I was invited to a birthday party of an Swiss guy, who was celebrating his birthday in his residence. About thirty people had come and the flat - actually only the living room with integrated kitchen - was full of people from different countries. I'd never met such a lot of people from totally different countries in one room, that was absolutely fascinating. The people came from Europe (e.g. Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, Turkey), Asia (e.g. Korea, China, Japanese), Africa (e.g. Saudi Arabia, Congo, Nigeria) and South America (especially from Brasil).
On Saturday Daniela, some other students and I took the red sightseeing bus. This is an bus company specialist on tourist sightseeing in Cape Town. They have two routes you can choose from. We took the blue route and went from the 'Beach road' via the beautiful harbour area called Waterfront, further to the city centre and up to the backside of Table Mountain. The bus line has several stops to hop off and later on again. We stopped first time at the 'World of Birds& Monkey Jungle', which is Cape Towns most famous bird sanitary and animal garden. We were able to get in contact with the birds of South Africa and a lot of other species from all other the world.

Well, this was only the second half of week 1. If you mist the first one, please click ‘previous’.
Having slept longer on Sunday morning, I decided to visit the shortly discovered beach and having lunch there. I met Mirjam and Mounique, my schoolmates, and we went together in a minibus to Camps Bay. In Seapoint it had been cloudy but in Camps Bay the weather was fine. Though there are only two kilometre between, the weather seemed to be totally different. At Camps Bay we met by chance some of the people, I'd met before at the birthday party and together we enjoyed the time at the beach.
from the top of the mountain. Unsure about the safety we were hoping to get a taxi after sunset to go home. But on the way to the top we met other people, I also met at the birthday party before. Together we hiked the mountain. Ones we had to climb some meter to reach the top, but we were at least in time for the sunset.
It took us about an hour to climb down again and we were able to see some night birds, like owls flying in the air. (Sorry, the picture isn't that good.) Back down we had a little problem to solve. We had only one car - a Golf City - but we were seven people. Knowing we
Later at the afternoon I had an appointment with Daniela. We'd decided to hike Lion's Head, the smaller one in front of Table Mountain. So we started to hike up in the late afternoon to see the sunset
weren't in Germany we decided that a Golf is also able to transport seven persons and after some minutes we really managed to get into the car - one person in the boot and four persons on the backseats.
Further on the route we went via the Imizamo Township to Hout Bay, the most southern part of the surrounding of Cape Town. At the harbour, we separated into two groups, either seeing the seals by going by boat to seals island, or having a lunch at the upstairs restaurant. A big surprise was offered to us, when we went further on the bus. Going up the west coast we reached the beaches of Lundadno, Camps Bay and Clifton, which are only view minutes away from my school. Camps Bay is a typical tourist based holiday resort. A long beach with palms and nice sand invites to enjoy the sun. Clifton with its six beaches offers an alternative if it's windy, because the beachs are smaller and better protected. Lundadno therefor is the area where the super-riches, like Michael Shoemaker, have there
property. What's more, this beach is most ideal to learn surfing as you don't need an hour or more to reach the town Muisenburg. Muisenburg is situated at the Pacific Ocean and well-known as the surfer paradise for beginner (and the food paradise for sharks).
