Along the west coast

2010/12/22
One of the big missing visits of 2008 we closed today: We went along the west coast and reached Elands Bay. The trip was a hour long trip through the wilderness. Hill came after hill and no end was in sight. And as we reached the city, we were wondering what it is that tourist shall come to here… a smelly city we better wanted to leave earlier than later. But than I remembered that the harbour was the important point to visit. Well, here are some pictures of it.
On the way back we drove along the OREX line. The big coal line for which I was thinking of going to South Africa in 2008. We passed one of the big trains and it took us several minutes just to see the end.
At the beach in Langebaan

This is were we celebrated Christmas. And in some hours we are already going back to Somerset West. I better take some more pictures of this beautiful spot of the world.

The pictures are a good example for the big issue a photographer has in South Africa: Once the sun its out, you don’t know where to start with taking pictures. The views are just to awesome to stop.
Back in Cape Town

2010/12/28
Cape Town has changed … a little but enough to show that it is still alive. We Waterfront is still growing and Table Mountain still presents a safe harbour and protector for the city. Clouds are rising over the mountain and trying to intrude into the city but the mountain fights back.
It is nearly time to say goodbye again and as a small tradition, which I started in 2008, I planed to take Minélle back to the harbour sunset tour, we did together two years ago. Unfortunately we had bad weather and although the boat started the skipper turned before reaching the open sea. The weather was that bad that you didn’t dare to go further and preferred to give the money back. So we went on the over site of the Waterfront and watched the sunset from the parking lot.
Although it has only been a short time, it was still an amazing trip and any minute worth to visit this beautiful country. But for the moment the next continents to visit will be Europe and North America.
